Seminole County sheriff's deputy injured in overnight crash

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a Seminole County sheriff's deputy.

Troopers said the deputy, whose name hasn’t been released, was going south on U.S. 17-92 in Casselberry Sunday night when a driver trying to turn onto O’Brien Road crashed into the deputy's cruiser.

The damage to the cruiser was so bad that rescue crews had to use extraction tools to get the deputy out.

The deputy and the other driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

There’s no word on whether the other driver will face charges.
