SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — If your child’s Seminole County school bus is running behind, there may be a good reason.
The school district said a month into the school year, it is still about 30 bus drivers short.
To make up the difference, several transportation managers are out driving the buses, while other managers remain inside the building dispatching buses to routes.
Assistant Director of Transportation Stan McKinzie said the district is looking for reliable drivers, and he said the job has the best perks, since drivers are the first face students see in the morning.
“And when you are able to bring a smile to that student’s face, and you are also one of the last person(s) that student may see that day, so your actions can also brighten a family’s life the way you treat that student,” he said.
