OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Xero Gravity Action Sports is planning to build a resort near US-192 and County Road 535 in Osceola County, Channel 9 has learned.
Officials sent out the first draft of a multimillion-dollar action sports and entertainment resort, which could be built in the next few years if the man behind the vision has his way.
"We've taken the best of action sport venues and put them all in one resort," said Xero CEO Larry Walshaw.
Walshaw said the resort would include a ski and snowboard mountain, water for surfing and boogie boarding, a skateboard park and areas for skydiving, rock climbing and zip lines.
That's in addition to restaurants and bars, swimming pools and an international action sports hall of fame, as well as a hotel.
"Orlando was an easy choice from a regional area because of the tourists that come through, but Osceola County...I fell in love with that county, and the people there are great," said Walshaw.
County officials haven't approved the idea yet but Walshaw is confident his vision will become reality. He said what he's offering doesn't exist in central Florida yet.
"Many times going on vacation is a lot of fun. You go and do a lot of rides that you are on and boy do you eat a lot of food, and we found trends have shown people want to be more active," said Walshaw.
