St. Cloud police distribute masks due to brush fire smoke

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — The St. Cloud Police Department is distributing masks to those affected by smoke from a brush fire burning in the region.

Residents can pick up masks at the police department at 4700 Neptune Road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Police are providing the masks because smoke and wind are expected to continue in the area for the next several days.

The 40-acre brush sparked Thursday from a downed power line and prompted St. Cloud Elementary School to evacuate, police said.

Forestry officials said the fire was 100 percent contained Friday evening.
