According to investigators, a 22-year-old man from Sanford was westbound on State Road 44 in a Nissan Altima when he crossed over the center line and into the eastbound lanes.

Troopers say the Altima sideswiped an eastbound Honda Accord before colliding head-on with a pickup truck that was also headed eastbound.

The Altima driver died at the scene, according to FHP. Troopers say they’re still trying to figure out what caused him to drive into oncoming traffic.
