Statistics on shower doors, graduation on social media: How UCF is finishing spring semester online

ORLANDO, Fla. — Graduation for seniors at the University of Central Florida is set to look different than ever before as the ceremony is going virtual on social media amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Loved ones will be able to tune into the graduation ceremony on Facebook and YouTube.

It’s the latest in a number of unprecedented shifts that seniors have endured as their college careers come to an end, which included their last month of classes going online.

Students and professors said they had to adapt quickly to the changes.

An elementary education professor used her 4-year-old son as a teaching aid, while a statistics professor used his shower door as a white board.

Of the 5,600 classes taught this semester on-line, 4,900 of them were previously only taught face-to-face.
