ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida is in for another hot, humid and stormy day, with a higher chance for rain than we’ve seen in recent days.
A more active sea breeze, combined with weaker steering winds, will allow thunderstorms to develop and linger across the region. That could lead to locally heavy rainfall, particularly in areas that experience repeated downpours.
Minor flooding will be possible, especially in low-lying and poorly drained areas. Storms could also produce gusty winds around 40 mph and frequent lightning.
Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and low 90s this afternoon. With high humidity in place, heat indices will once again reach triple digits.
Storm coverage may vary from one neighborhood to the next, but where storms repeatedly move over the same areas, rainfall totals could quickly add up.
Residents should stay weather-aware throughout the day, have a way to receive weather alerts and remember: When thunder roars, go indoors.
