Students plead not guilty to charges related to school stabbing

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Loida Lalinde and Jeremiah Lugo were in juvenile court Wednesday facing charges related to a stabbing at Winter Springs High School.

Both pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against them in the case.

Lalinde, 15, is accused of slashing her ex-boyfriend with a steak knife just after second period Tuesday.

After the incident she fled the school and at some point met up with Lugo, police said.

Investigators said Lugo, 16, helped Lalinde run away, but the pair was found about a half-mile from the school on Orange Avenue.

Lugo, who is charged with being an accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence, was released on home confinement. The judge in the case ordered him not to have any contact with anyone involved with the incident.

Lalinde was charged with second-degree attempted homicide, interference with school functions, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon on school property.

The judge ordered her to remain in juvenile custody.
