SANFORD, Fla. — A trial began on Friday for a Seminole County man who in February pleaded no contest to felony dumping charges.
Alan Davis, known as "the junk man," was given 60 days to tidy up his property, which is littered with junk vehicles, trash and debris. But he never did so.
Davis, who is representing himself at trial, has battled his neighbors for years over the piles of junk that have accumulated on his property near Altamonte Springs.

There were several tense moments in court Friday between Davis and Circuit Judge Marlene Alva.
Davis had previously filed a motion asking Alva to recuse herself from the case, but she denied that request Friday.
Davis' former probation officer testified that Davis didn't adhere to the terms of his probation.
He said that Davis wouldn't allow him to inspect the home and that he didn't pay a required monthly $50 supervisory fee.
He also testified that it appeared Davis didn't attempt to remove the junk from the yard of his Alpine Street home.
Davis repeatedly interjected during cross examination, which Alva reminded him not to do.

Davis said that he doesn't own the house anymore, that only his wife does. But the Seminole County Property Appraiser's Office's website still lists him as a co-owner.
Testimony is scheduled to continue Friday afternoon.
