Two injured in Brevard County shooting

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies said they are investigating after two men were injured in a shooting in the Sharpes area of Brevard County Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. on Ash Drive, according to officials.

Witness Timothy Adkins was working his landscaping job when he found himself less than 10 feet away from the incident.

"I was mowing and putting brush out to the road... I just put my hands up," Adkins said.

According to Adkins, a man who was being chased by two other men ran right past him.

"Then all of sudden he turned around backwards and started shooting at the other two," Adkins said.

As Adkins ran to help one of the shooting victims, the second victim fell into Christopher Murphy's front yard.

"Something you don't expect to see after going to church. First time I've seen someone shot in my front yard so it's pretty crazy," Murphy said.

One of the victims was airlifted to Holmes Regional hospital, while the other was taken by ambulance to Wuesthoff hospital in Rockledge. Both victims are in serious condition, according to fire rescue officials.

The gunman was taken into custody for questioning and it's unclear if he was arrested. Deputies said they believe the shooting is drug related.
