MERRITT ISLAND, Fla.,None — Two men were rescued from the Banana River after strong winds caused their catamaran to flip over Saturday afternoon, according to the Coast Guard.
The two men were sailing down the Banana River near Merritt Island when the incident happened around 3:00 p.m. Officials say the boaters were thrown into the chilly water.
The Coast Guard was quickly alerted and called in to rescue the men. Officials say the rescue lasted about 30 minutes.
The men were checked out for mild hypothermia, but they are expected to be fine.
