OCALA, Fla.,None — Ocala police are trying to find the vandals who made off with a small fortune by damaging a pricey sculpture in downtown.
The quarter horse is one of several horse sculptures on the downtown square.
The $5,000 statue was covered with quarters, until somebody pried off around $150 worth of change.
"There's no respect,” said Ocala resident Kathy Fisk. “Not just for a piece of art, but for people. There's a lot of that happening."
Because the sculpture is valued at $5,000, the crook would face a felony if caught. The sculpture will be repaired next week, but all the quarters will be replaced with plastic replicas.
