Man dies after being ejected from car traveling 15 mph on I-95 in Volusia County, troopers say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers are investigating after a man died when he was ejected from a car following a crash on Interstate 95 in Volusia County.

At about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, troopers said two cars and a pickup truck were traveling southbound on I-95. The two cars were traveling at 15 mph due to one of the cars having a mechanical issue.

Troopers said the pickup truck approached the back of one of the cars and struck it.

The driver told troopers the car didn’t have lights on and he didn’t see the car until he hit it.

After the first crash, the car that was hit from behind struck the back of the car that was having mechanical issues.

Troopers said the first vehicle then overturned and a 33-year-old was ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
