VOLUSIA COUNTY Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian on a major interstate.
Troopers said the crash happened Saturday at 5:55 a.m. on southbound Interstate 95 near MM 263. All southbound lanes just before LPGA were shut down for hours on Saturday morning.

According to troopers, for some unknown reason a pedestrian was in the southbound lanes of I-95, when he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver of that vehicle did not stop, troopers said, and added that it is unknown if that driver knew they had hit someone.

The pedestrian, who was now prone on the highway, was then struck by a second vehicle.
Troopers believe multiple vehicles ran over the pedestrian after the initial collision.

According to troopers, a semi-truck driver and another driver reached out to FHP stating that they had possibly run over human debris on the highway.
Troopers said due to the condition of the deceased, troopers have been unable to make a positive identification.

This crash remains under investigation.
