2 men charged with murder after man shot dead at Daytona Beach motel, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Two men are facing first-degree murder charges after a man was found shot dead outside a Daytona Beach motel Saturday, Daytona Beach police said.

Police said 34-year-old Jeffrey Schusky was found shot outside the Happy Holiday Motel on North Atlantic Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday.

Officers said they arrested Tarek Mneimne, 32, of Ocoee, and Taylor Holcomb Barber, 27, of Ormond Beach, on charges of felony first-degree murder. Investigators said they believe the motive was a drug-related robbery.

A manager at the motel called police and told them he went to his front door after hearing persistent knocking and that is when he found Schusky bleeding and crawling on the ground outside the door.

Emergency officials said they found Schusky unresponsive and lying on the ground with a knife next to his body. They attempted to revive Schusky but were unsuccessful.

Police Chief Craig Capri is scheduled to host a press conference to discuss the case at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
