Wall Street preps for huge New Year's Eve party

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando residents are gearing up for New Year's Eve parties galore and one of the usual hotpots is Wall Street downtown.

Wisconsin residents Kent and Sarah Streiff are in Orlando for Wednesday's Capital One Bowl, but the two couldn't help but notice crews prepping for tonight.

Those crews have been working for 24 hours to get ready for the 5,000 people expected to hit Wall Street Tuesday night.

"It's going to be vibrant. It's going to be fun," said Sarah Streiff.

"Anytime you have that many people and a mix of people, it can be, you know, a concern," said Wall Street Plaza events director Paul Emery.

But Emery said they're ready.

The team on Wall Street has a private security detail of 30 to 40 guards, and they've also shelled out big bucks to hire more than 10 off-duty Orlando police officers.

That's on top of the dozens of extra cops that'll already be on the city's streets handling thousands of extra people.

Events are also being held on Church Street and in Thornton Park.

The Streiffs said they're now turning their trip into a two-day vacation and plan to start 2014 in downtown Orlando.

"We are excited, because tomorrow, our New Year's resolutions kick in, which means no more partying and no more good food," said Sarah Streiff.
