NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A woman was arrested after a residential fire over the weekend on North Atlantic Avenue in New Smyrna Beach.
Elyssa Rouse was apprehended and faces charges of battery against an individual age 65 or older, as well as battery against a police officer.
Rouse remains in custody following her arrest.
Law enforcement officials reported receiving a call to the North Atlantic Avenue residence regarding a domestic dispute 20 minutes before the fire started.
Crew found heavy flames coming from the roof of the large two-story home when they arrived.
The fire was put out before it could spread to nearby structures, but major damage was reported at the home.
