Woman dies in fiery crash after pickup truck strikes utility pole in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 20-year-old woman died in a fiery crash late Tuesday in Volusia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Just after 11:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was driving a pickup truck on Kennedy Parkway when troopers said he failed to follow a curve in the road and struck a curb.

The truck then struck a concrete utility pole, overturned and caught fire, troopers said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver pulled the 20-year-old woman out of the truck before it was fully engulfed in flames.

However, troopers said the woman died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
