Woman ordered to pay back money she stole from Palm Bay youth league

PALM BAY, Fla. — A Brevard County judge on Monday ordered a woman to pay back nearly $2,000 she stole from a youth athletic association.

Sharon Allison-Loring was arrested last year for stealing from the Palm Bay Youth Athletic Association, where her son used to play.

The league reported it was missing nearly $13,000, money that was owed to various vendors, when Allison-Loring was the president of the league, but police were only able to link her to about $1,900 of the missing funds.

Police said they caught Allison-Loring removing cash from the league's account at an ATM.

She faced up to five years in prison but agreed to five years of supervised probation, restitution, community service and anti-theft classes.

PBYAA Treasurer Janae Beauchamp said changes have been made since Allison-Loring's arrest. She said there are a lot fewer cash transactions and more accountability.

The league's new season begins July 1.
