PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Police in Punta Gorda, Florida, are investigating after a woman was killed in an accidental shooting during a training session at Citizen Police Academy.
The police chief said the shooting happened during a “shoot or don’t shoot” scenario in which they simulated lethal force in a role play.
The victim has been identified as Mary Knowlton.
The officer involved is on administrative leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates.
