ORLANDO, Fla. — Just hours after handing out a career-high 14 assists against the Miami Heat, Jameer Nelson was passing out food instead of a basketball Thursday.
The point guard and other Orlando Magic staffers helped serve Thanksgiving breakfast to 600 hungry people at the Coalition for the Homeless Thursday morning.
Nelson said he remembers tough times growing up and said helping people in need is more important than winning basketball games.
The Magic also hosted a carnival for the children and provided haircuts for the men. The Coalition for the Homeless will also serve a Thanksgiving dinner later Thursday.
