KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Suspect Luis Guzman 120910 Luis Guzman Suspect Luis Guzman The Osceola County Sheriff's Office told WFTV a 20-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after his girlfriend's infant son was hospitalized with severe injuries.
Authorities say the infant is on life support. The 10-month-old boy was gasping for air and was then unresponsive before authorities arrived. He was hospitalized with injuries including possible brain damage and fractured ribs.
The child's mother says he was sick for several days and took him to a doctor for antibiotics. Authorities say she told then she didn't abuse the boy.
The boyfriend, Luis Angel Guzman, also told authorities that he didn't abuse the child, but they say he told them he may have used excessive force when he "playfully threw the infant several times."
