Orlando Dreamers: Quest continues to bring professional baseball to region

ORLANDO, Fla. — More than 10,000 Central Floridians said they would buy season tickets for a Major League Baseball team in our backyard.

It’s been a month since Orlando Magic co-founder Pat Williams began his quest to bring professional baseball to the region.

Williams intensified his bid to bring Major League Baseball to Orlando with a public offer to solve the Rays’ turmoil in Tampa Bay.

The Magic co-founder believes Central Floridians are serious about the Orlando Dreamers. He said more than 10,000 people answered his open appeal and went to the team’s website to express interest in season tickets.

“Nobody just gets one season ticket. Some would do four, some might do eight but we’re just going to be conservative and multiple this number by two,” Williams said.

If a current club, like the Rays, isn’t interested, Williams said he will gladly take an expansion team.

“Keep grinding. Keep going to that website. Keep pushing these numbers because that’s what’s going to get Major League Baseball’s attention. That’s what’s going to get them saying, ‘What’s going on down there?’” Williams said.
