BARTOW, Fla. — Polk County sheriff's deputies reached out to the public for help Monday in a hit and run investigation in Bartow.
At approximately 8:05pm on Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a hit and run traffic crash at Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road (see map) involving a 73-year-old pedestrian.
A dark-colored vehicle was traveling south on Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road, south of Griffin Road, as the victim was walking south on Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road, transporting a stove on a dolly in the southbound lane. The front of vehicle struck the victim and the driver did not stop.
The victim was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
The vehicle is described as a dark-colored Oldsmobile, possibly an 80s to early 90s model. It was last seen traveling south on Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road.
