For some Orlo Vista residents, the nightmare of Hurricane Ian remains

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Seven months after Hurricane Ian, the nightmare is still going on for Orlo Vista residents such as Calvin Williams.

He lost everything, and showed Channel 9 where the water devoured his home and what he was able to do with the little support he received after. His only décor is a mattress on the floor and pictures of his late wife hanging on every wall. When water started filling their home, she had a heart attack and died.

Channel 9 met with district leader and Commissioner Mike Scott to ask what is being done to help people like Williams.

“Most people, the money they got from FEMA was just enough to get rid of the molded wood really just to do mitigation,” he said.

Scott said another site visit is coming so politicians can see the need firsthand and figure out the solution.
