Police arrest second suspect in armed gas station robbery in Casselberry

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Casselberry police officers arrested second suspect in a gas station robbery Sunday morning.

Police arrested John Macklin, 35, as the first suspect, Joshua Flanagan, 28, prepared for his first court appearance.

Casselberry police said Flanagan and Macklin forced two Citgo gas station employees into the bathroom during a robbery at the store Friday night.

Investigators said the two suspects, who were armed with knives, jumped the counter at a Citgo gas station on S.R. 434 in Casselberry shortly after 11 p.m.

The suspects forced two employees into a bathroom during the robbery, according to police.

Officers received information that Flanagan was in a room at the Lake Fairy Motel in Longwood. When police arrived, the suspect apparently tried to escape out a back window, officials said.

According to police, Flanagan jumped into a lake behind the motel, but was taken into custody moments later.

Officials said no one was injured during the incident.

Flanagan was charged with armed robbery, theft, resisting arrest and false imprisonment.

Macklin was charged with robbery with a weapon, false imprisonment and grand theft. He is expected to face a judge Monday afternoon.
