Three Arrested In Sanford Prostitution Sting

SANFORD, Fla.,None — Three men accused of trying to pick up prostitutes in Seminole County will face a judge Friday.

Eyewitness News cameras were on the scene as Sanford police officers canvassed Highway 17-92 to try to clean up the prostitution problem in the city Thursday night.

Three suspects were arrested within a matter of hours. One of the men arrested told WFTV he did not do anything wrong.

"They have evidence you were there to pick her up for sex," said WFTV reporter Mark Boyle.

"No, that's wrong," replied David McGurik, suspect.

"We want to send out a message to the folks coming to Sanford to commit crimes. If you do this, you're libel to get caught with your pants down, literally," said Sgt. David Morgenstern, Sanford Police Department.

The narcotics unit organizes these types of sting operations and says there are plans for more over the course of the next few weeks.

Police say the current problem areas are 27th Street and 3rd Street near downtown Sanford.
