DENVER — A 6-year-old boy in Colorado fulfilled a promise he made to his dying father, opening a lemonade stand so he could raise cash to take his mother on a date.
Brady Campbell, of Denver, began selling lemonade the day after his father, Brandon Campbell, died of colon cancer July 7, KDVR reported. He was 37.
"My dad and I came up with the idea of a lemonade stand to take my mom on a date because I didn't have enough money and I wanted to pay, so I did it," Brady told the television station.

Brady said he charged "25 cents or best offer" for the drink.
His mother, Amanda Campbell, said 75 people showed up the first day, KDVR reported.
"It brought me so much joy, in truly such a moment of devastation," Amanda Campbell told KCNC.
Brady raised $244 on his first day of selling. He got a boost when a neighbor set up a virtual lemonade stand through a GoFundMe page, KDVR reported. As of Friday morning, more than $8,400 had been raised to benefit the Brandon Campbell Memorial Fund at the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus.
First responders got into the act, too. A Denver police officer who heard about the lemonade stand convinced other first responders to visit Brady's stand.
"It was amazing. You could just feel the warmth and energy and such a positive thing in such a tragic time for us," Amanda Campbell told KDVR. "It really lifted our spirits and really made Brady so happy. Brandon was a savvy businessman and wanted to teach Brady all those lessons, and I could just [see] it happening. It made my heart really happy."
Brady still wants to take his mom out for a date night. He said his mother enjoys sushi and they will have ice cream for dessert, KDVR reported.
“Maybe we will have our Friday night date night," Amanda Campbell told the television station. "Brandon and I used to do that, so I think we will start that and take the time to spend that time together."
