Just after midnight, several 911 callers reported shots fired in River Grove, the Chicago Tribune reported.

River Grove Police Chief Michael Konwinski said officers responding to the scene learned that a shooter or shooters fired at the bus from another vehicle, the newspaper reported. The bus was stopped at an intersection when shots were fired.

Police did not say how many people were on the vehicle, which is owned by M&M Buses, WGN-TV reported. A spokesperson said the bus driver was not injured, the television station reported.

After the shots were fired, the bus driver drove the vehicle to Franklin Park to find a safe location and parked, WLS reported.

The victims were taken to area hospitals, Lt. Daniel Fidonik, acting deputy chief of the Franklin Park Fire Department, told the television station.

The identity of the deceased person has been released by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, the Tribune reported. There is no information on the conditions of the three people who were injured.
