$300 gold tooth donated to Salvation Army thrift store in Arizona

Employees at a Salvation Army thrift store in Arizona found a gold tooth inside a red kettle near the cash register on Nov. 5, KPHO reported.

Lee-Ann Henle, the coordinator and manager at the Salvation Army store in Quartzville, said the tooth weighs about five grams, putting its value near $300, the television station reported.

“We have no idea who left us this generous and clever gift, but we are most grateful,” Henle told KPHO. “What a fun and blessed way to kick off the holiday season.”

The donation comes just as the Salvation Army begins its Red Kettle Campaign, an annual fundraiser that helps feed families, pay bills and provide Christmas toys for children.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank the person who left us this wonderful gift,” Lt. Col. Ivan Wild, the Salvation Army’s Southwest divisional commander, said in a statement. “In the past, Red Kettles across the country have received gold coins, valuable jewelry and checks of large dollar amounts, but this gold tooth is right up there on the list of unusual donations.”
