INDIO, Calif. — Hip-hop star Frank Ocean, who headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival last weekend, will not return for a Sunday performance due to a fractured left leg, his representative said on Wednesday.

Ocean, 35, injured his leg on the festival grounds before the first weekend of the concert, Variety reported. The entertainment news website reported that Blink-182, which made a surprise appearance on Friday, will possibly replace Ocean as the lead act.

“Frank Ocean will not be performing at weekend 2 of Coachella,” the representative said in a statement to Variety. “After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1, Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity.

“On doctor’s advice, (Ocean) is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”

Ocean began his set at Coachella an hour later than announced and was forced to end his set after he played 20 minutes past the venue’s midnight sound curfew, The Orange County Register reported.

“It was chaotic,” the singer-songwriter said in a news release. “There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”

Last weekend marked Ocean’s first live show since 2017, Rolling Stone reported. He was originally scheduled to headline Coachella in 2020 but had to cancel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He committed to play this year’s event in August 2021, according to the magazine.

Blink-182′s surprise appearance featured the original lineup of the pop-punk band and marked their first appearance together since singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge left the group in 2014, Variety reported.
