NEW YORK — “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said in a tweet that he has tested positive for COVID-19 but is “feeling fine.”
The news was announced on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
“Yep! I tested positive for Covid, but basically I’m feeling fine- grateful to be vaxxed and boosted,” the tweet read. “Thank you for the well wishes. This just proves that I will do anything to avoid interviewing Jason Bateman.”

The official Twitter account for “The Late Show” announced that Thursday’s show was cancelled and the show will be airing repeats through next week. New episodes will begin on May 2.

Colbert’s positive test comes with the highest rates of new COVID-19 cases per capita in New York and most of New England, according to the Associated Press.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also shows that new hospital admissions of patients with confirmed COVID-19 were up slightly in New England and the New York region.
The contagious subvariants of BA.2 have been found in New York and scientists warn that new and potentially dangerous variants could arise at any time.
