Kodak Black accused of trespassing

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Authorities in South Florida arrested rapper Kodak Black early Saturday on suspicion of trespassing, according to multiple reports.

Officials with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office told WSVN they made contact with Black around 1:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Northwest 10th Drive. Authorities confirmed to WPLG that he was arrested on a trespassing charge, although more information about the incident was not immediately available.

He bonded out of jail later Saturday, WSVN reported.

Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, grew up in Pompano Beach, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Area officials honored him in June for his philanthropy, including his decision to cover the college costs for children of two FBI agents who were killed in a raid early last year, the newspaper reported.

In 2019, authorities sentenced Black to 46 months in prison for making a false statement on a federal document. In January 2021, President Donald Trump commuted his sentence, calling him “a prominent artist and community leader.” In a statement, Trump noted that Black “has paid for the notebooks of school children, provided funding and supplies to daycare centers, provided food for the hungry and annually provides for underprivileged children during Christmas.”

Black served about half of his sentence.

Last April, authorities sentenced Black to probation for assaulting a teenage girl in a South Carolina hotel room, The Associated Press reported. The sentence was part of a deal that allowed him to avoid a rape charge in exchange for pleading guilty to first-degree assault, according to the AP.
