Marlon Wayans honors late mother Elvira on their shared birthday

Entertainer Marlon Wayans has shared two emotional tributes to his mother, Elvira, who recently died.

The Instagram posts came Thursday, which was Wayans' 48th birthday and would have been his mother's 82nd.

"Losing you shattered me into 1,000 pieces," he wrote in the first post, which featured a photo of the pair. "I'm putting myself back together piece by piece. You will always be my glue. Miss you."

He added: "Today, I celebrate for the both of [us]. In the midst of this hurt ... I just love you, Ma."

In a second post, Wayans shared a photo of his mother holding him when he was a baby.

"Everytime I [saw] this woman, I smiled," he wrote. "I see her in every woman ... the greatness you all behold. The joy you can always share. The sweetness and affection we all possess, but we're [too] damaged to just let go."

He went on to thank her for giving him "pure love."

"You will always be my first love," he wrote before wishing her a happy birthday.

"Baby boy misses you."
