TUCSON, Ariz. — Officials in Arizona are searching for a suspect who shot a javelina with an arrow, which is illegal in the state.
The Arizona Game & Fish Department Tucson said that its Operation Game Thief program is offering a reward of $1,500 for information that could lead to the arrest of the person who injured a javelina illegally with an arrow.
KTVK said that Oro Valley police officers saw the javelina Monday evening. The AZGFD Tucson told KTVK in a statement that it was not clear initially that the javelina was injured or how long it had been injured for.
The AZGFD Tucson said the javelina has since been euthanized.
KGUN said it is “unlawful to injure, kill, or trap javelina” and javelinas are categorized as big game species by the AZGFD.
KGUN said tips can be shared anonymously if needed at the OGT hotline, which is 800-352-0700 with reference case number OGT#22-001737.
