Pi Day 2021: Deals on pizzas, desserts to celebrate 3.14

Sunday is “Pi Day”, a day celebrating the savory, the sweet and the numbers 3, 1 and 4.

Pi Day is a combination of math and the calendar. A few years ago, those in the food industry decided to use the numbers 3,1 and 4 (as in the numerical date of March 14) to establish a day to honor pies.

The day was chosen because it reflects the first three numbers of “pi,” or the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The first three digits of pi are 3.14.

As a result, you can look for deals on pies – both pizza ones and desserts – this weekend. Here are a few restaurants taking part in the celebration:

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse: You can get half off large pizzas Tuesdays through Sundays using the code HALFOFF when you order online.

Blaze Pizza: You can get an 11-inch pizza for $3.14! You need to download the Blaze Pizza app before Sunday. You’ll be sent a reward to get a Blaze Pizza for just $3.14 on your next visit good through April 12.

Boston Market: Download the Boston Market app and get a free chicken potpie with any potpie and drink order on Pi Day.

Coco’s: Sign up for the E-Club before Sunday and get a free slice of pie.

Fresh Market: Get $3.14 off chicken potpies and 9-inch apple and cherry pies on Sunday.

Grand Traverse Pie Company: You can get a free slice of Michigan ABC Crumb Pie with any purchase on Sunday.

Hungry Howie’s: Get a medium one-topping pizza for $3.14 Saturday through Tuesday.
