Recall alert: Willow Tree recalls more than 50,000 pounds of chicken salad, dips

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Willow Tree Poultry Farm announced Tuesday the recall of roughly 52,022 pounds of various chicken salads and dip products sold in nine states that may be contaminated with foreign matter, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The ready-to-eat chicken salads and dip items were produced between Aug. 10 and Aug. 13 and may contain pieces of hard white plastic, the recall notice stated.

Attleboro, Massachusetts-based Willow Tree confirmed that there have been no reports of adverse reactions linked to the recall to date, which includes the following:

  • Willow Tree Premium White Meat Caesar Chicken Dip: 5-pound container with “sell by” dates of Sept. 3 and Sept. 6.
  • Willow Tree Premium White Meat Buffalo Chicken Dip: 5-pound and 12-ounce containers with “sell by” dates of Sept. 3 and Sept. 5.
  • Willow Tree Premium White Meat Buffalo Chicken Salad: 5-pound containers with a “sell by” date of Sept. 7.
  • Willow Tree Premium White Meat Buffalo Chicken Salad: 15-ounce containers with “sell by” dates of Sept. 7 and Sept. 9.
  • Willow Tree Premium White Meat Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad: 15-ounce containers with a “sell by” date of Sept. 8.
  • Willow Tree Premium White Meat Classic Chicken Salad: 15-ounce containers with a “sell by” dates of Sept. 7-10.
  • Willow Tree Premium White Meat Classic Chicken Salad: 7.5-ounce containers with “sell by” dates of Sept. 7 and Sept. 9.
  • Willow Tree Premium White Meat Classic Chicken Salad: 10-pound containers with a “sell by” date of Sept. 8.

Per the recall, the affected products were shipped to wholesale and retail locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Consumers are advised to discard the affected items or return them to the place of purchase.
