Christopher Thornton was at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa and recorded the video of the animal escaping from its holding pen and running rampant, WFLA reported.

See the video from Fox13 Tampa:

“Everyone was rushing, the parents were grabbing their kids,” Thornton told WTVT. “People were jumping over the chairs. The first thing in my head said to record it. I couldn’t believe this was happening at my first rodeo!”

The video shows the bull leap over the railing, run into the screaming crowd and make its way around the outside of the ring before someone on horseback was able to capture it with a lasso. Over the loudspeaker, an announcer repeatedly urged the crowd to “stay calm.”

“Everyone just started clapping,” Thornton told WTVT. “Honestly, if he wasn’t able to catch the bull, more chaos would’ve happened.”

Thornton told WFLA that while this was his first rodeo, it certainly won’t be his last.

Nobody in the stands was hurt. The organizers of the event declined to comment to WTVT.
