Brandon James Price, 31, of Boiling Springs, an experienced diver, was doing a solo jump and became stuck upside down while doing mid-flight tricks, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly before 2 p.m. EDT, deputies responded to a call at Piedmont Skydiving in Salisbury, North Carolina, the Salisbury Post reported.

Price was unable to regain control of his parachute and hit the ground, where he suffered severe injuries, according to WSOC-TV. First responders arrived at the scene, and Price was pronounced dead at 2:02 p.m. EDT, the Independent Tribune reported.

According to the sheriff’s office, no foul play was suspected, and Price’s death appears to be accidental.

Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Ramsey told the Post that no criminal charges are planned.

“The Piedmont Skydiving family grieves along with the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult time,” the company said in a Facebook message. “We offer our condolences to all affected by this tragedy.”
