A small town in Canada received a unique monument for sharing a name with that bright orange residue found on the fingers of some snack lovers.
According to Frito Lay, “Cheetle” is the official name for that orange stuff that gets all over your fingers when eating Cheetos. The company thought because the tiny town of Cheadle, Alberta, sounded so similar, it deserved a 17-foot statue to celebrate “Cheetle and Canadians’ cheesy, Cheetle-dusted fingertips,” according to a company release.

“Cheadle is proud to be home to the Cheetle Hand Statue. Where else could the Cheetos brand honor the iconic Cheetle, if not here,” said James Gosteli, president, of the Cheadle Community Club, noted in the release. “While our residents will be the first to see the unique monument, we can’t wait for the rest of Canada to see it for themselves!”
The statue of a giant gray hand holding a bright orange Cheeto, with Cheetle on the fingertips, will only be in the tiny town of 83 people until November. The statue will then tour other locations in Canada, according to CNN.
According to Dictionary.com, Cheetle, originally spelled cheedle, was one of the many words known as sniglets, created by comedian Rich Hall in the 1980s.
