Wrangler Allen Hendrix, of Jewett, was found wedged between the two appliances at about 6:15 p.m. EDT on Friday, WSB-TV reported. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 7:30 p.m. EDT, according to the television station.

According to Thomas County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Tim Watkins, the boy was playing hide-and-seek with his cousins and other family members at a home in Coolidge, Georgia. Watkins said Hendrix died from positional asphyxiation, since there was no trauma to the boy’s body when he was found, WCTV reported.

The sheriff’s office said they believe the second grader, who was visiting the home with his grandparents, was trying to hide behind the appliances when he got stuck, People reported.

Family members started doing CPR and called 911, according to WCTV. Emergency responders were briefly able to revive the boy, but he became unresponsive again and died at the hospital, the television station reported.

“The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of Wrangler,” Watkins said in a news release.
