AUGUSTA, Ga. — Call it a hole-in-wow. Or a hole-in-one-million. And, a very nice birthday present.

Golfer Jon Rahm hit a once-in-a-lifetime drive during Tuesday’s practice round for the 2020 Masters, skipping a 5-iron shot off the pond at the 16th hole for a hole-in-one, The Augusta Chronicle reported. It was the golfer’s second ace in as many days, and Tuesday’s shot at the Augusta National Golf Club came on his 26th birthday, the newspaper reported.

“Yeah, pretty nice birthday present,” the Spanish-born golfer told reporters. “Can’t complain. Hit my normal tee shot to 2 feet and then skipped it and made it, which is the craziest thing, the second hole-in-one of the week.”

For his birthday, Rahm decided to join the longtime Masters tradition of dropping a ball down and trying to skip it across the pond on the short par-3 hole, Sports Illustrated reported.

Rahm got more than he expected on the shot, as it skipped over the water, hopped onto the green and then curled around the back of the putting service and into the hole.

“Hole-in-one’s are always special, even more so at Augusta National,” Rahm wrote on Instagram. “Here’s to hoping it happens again later this week!”

Rahm also made a hole-in-one on Monday on the fourth hole, the Chronicle reported.

“Well, yesterday it was on 4, I hit a 5-iron, and we didn’t know it went in," Rahm told reporters. "A couple people on the green, and we didn’t know until we basically got to the green. But the one on 16 today was visible, so very different. You don’t see people skipping it and actually hitting it on the green very often, and to make it to that back pin, clearly, we were all pretty shocked.”

Rahm reached No. 1 in the world earlier this year after winning the Memorial Tournament, Sports Illustrated reported. He also won the BMW Championship and is currently ranked No. 2, the magazine reported.

But the only way Rahm can top that masterful shot on Tuesday would be with a green jacket on Sunday.
