Brentley Dewayne Gipson, 27, of Jonesboro, was arrested on Feb. 9 and charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of marijuana with the purpose to deliver, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and offenses related to records and maintaining premises, The Sun newspaper of Jonesboro reported.

According to a news release from the Jonesboro Police Department posted on Facebook, K-9 officer Corey Obregon asked Gipson to exit his pickup truck, to allow the K-9, Vault, to search for possible drugs. Police said Gipson “became nervous” when the dog alerted the officer about drugs near the back of the pickup and allegedly told investigators, “You guys got me.”

When Obregon opened the tailgate of the pickup, he observed “two black trash bags and a blue tote,” KATV reported. Gipson allegedly told police there were at least 20 pounds of marijuana in each trash bag, the police department’s post stated.

Police said they found 53.39 pounds of marijuana, along with a loaded 9mm pistol and 21 alprazolam pills, KAIT-TV reported.

After a search warrant was executed for Gipson’s home, authorities said they found four loaded weapons, 68 marijuana pre-rolled blunts, 3,024 grams of marijuana live resin, 15,512 grams of marijuana in vacuumed-sealed bags, 200 vape pens cartridges, 100 disposable vape pens and $860, police said in its Facebook post.

More than 130 pounds of marijuana was seized, The Sun reported.

Gipson was released after posting a cash bond of $20,000, according to the newspaper.

He will appear in court on March 28, WJHL reported.
