LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A tubing accident in Mount Dora sent a 10-year-old girl to the hospital Sunday afternoon.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said a 16-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a boat that was pulling two girls in a tube.
Investigators said the driver of the boat made a sharp turn to avoid another boat. The turn threw the girls off the tube, and at least one of them hit the boat.
The 10-year-old was airlifted to the hospital with a serious head injury. The other girl, a 13-year-old, suffered only a bruised arm.
Police said the boy did have a valid permit to be driving the boat.
