Of course, you can’t learn how to drive a stick shift by just reading directions from our Toyota Scion dealership; however, it’s a great start! We’re sharing detailed directions that can help you once you decide to get behind the wheel of a new Scion in Orlando with a manual transmission.
  • You can't just get in the driver's seat and turn the key. You need to first hold down the clutch and put your car into neutral. 
  • Once your new Scion is on, push the brake pedal all the way down, and put your car into first gear. Then, turn off the emergency brakes.
  • To start moving, take your foot off the brakes. Slowly hit the acceleration while taking your left foot off the clutch at the exact same time. 
  • Once you start to speed up, it's time to shift gears. To do so, you must take your foot completely off the acceleration and press the clutch as you shift up. Then, take your foot off the clutch gently and hit the acceleration at the same time. 
  • To slow down, take your foot off the acceleration, hit the brakes, and downshift as your start to slow down. Once you get below 10 mpg, you can put the car into neutral.
