WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — A dump truck driver was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in West Melbourne.
The lanes on I-95 north in Brevard County were shut down for several hours when the dump truck overturned, blocking all the lanes.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Eric Castillo was driving north on I-95 when the tread separated on one of the dump truck's tires.
An FHP report said Castillo lost control and the dump truck hit a guardrail before it overturned.
Castillo was trapped for two hours before Brevard County Fire Rescue crews were able to extract him from the vehicle.
Only the tractor-trailer was involved in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
