Brooksville police investigating accused Windermere serial rapist

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Eyewitness News has uncovered a woman who said she was raped by Darryl Patterson inside her Brooksville home.

Brooksville is about 70 miles west of Orlando.

Patterson has been arrested and charged with raping an unconscious woman, Windermere police said. Patterson is also accused of videotaping himself involved in several sex acts with women.

The woman in Brooksville said she came forward after seeing herself in a police safety bulletin last year.

The woman told detectives she went out for dinner and drinks with Patterson, but didn’t remember getting home.

When questioned by police, she said she recognized her Brooksville home in two videos Windermere police seized from Patterson’s Windermere home in 2015.  She said she’s known Patterson since 2007.

The woman told police she recalled pushing Patterson off and telling him, “no” and when she woke up, she was naked, but didn’t have any memories about what had happened.

Brooksville police said prosecutors plan to file a rape charge against Patterson.

Meanwhile, a search warrant affidavit that was issued by Windermere police and obtained by Channel 9, indicated Patterson showed two men photos of himself having sex with women who appeared to be unconscious.

A former neighbor cut ties with Patterson after that, police said. A former Amway arena club owner told police that, about 10 years ago, Patterson would buy drinks for drunken women and later show off photos of himself having sex with the “seeming unconscious” women.

A friend told police Patterson had drunken girls on his boat all the time.

One boater told police that an unconscious woman had once been plopped on the front of Patterson's boat and that he had no idea what had happened to her.

The affidavit also showed Patterson is accused of taking a 19-year-old home on his boat while drinking. She said she woke up undressed in Patterson’s bed with no idea how she had gotten there.

Another woman told police that, about 10 years ago, Patterson had given her drinks until she could not drive and she woke up undressed in a bed at Patterson’s home. She said she had found a used condom and that Patterson had asked her if she was on birth control.
