Bees Swarm Neighborhood After Tree Branch Falls

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — A giant swarm of bees had people in Brevard County looking for help Sunday.

The bees got aggressive when a tree branch fell, and hit the roof of a Titusville home. It left a hole in the ceiling of one of the home's bedrooms, but there's little that the homeowner's can do, because of the bees.

"Maybe me and my grandson will get stung, because we can't close the hole up on top of the roof because it's so many bees," said Shirley Johnson, the home's owner.

Johnson told WFTV she had been complaining about the rotten oak tree on Canaveral Avenue, as well as several other rotten trees in the area, for months.

Robert Simmons lives next door to Johnson. The tree which fell belongs to him, and he says he's been trying to find someone to remove both the tree and the bees.

"First thing they tell me is they need the money and I don't have the money and that's just the way it is," said Simmons.

Johnson said a city inspector told her it is safe for her and her family to be inside the home, but they have had to seal off the bedroom.
