A spokeswoman for the Washoe County School District confirmed to the Reno Gazette-Journal that a shooting was reported on campus. The school was under "code red lock down" as officials worked to notify parents of the ongoing situation.

School police told the newspaper that the shooting involved an officer.

"Officers appeared to have detained a group of teens behind the school shortly after the incident," the Gazette-Journal reported. "It was unclear why they had the youths sitting on a curb behind the school."

Police did not immediately say whether any injuries were reported. Citing a report from the scene, KRNV said one person appeared to be injured.
