Police say they have video to prove it, but won't release the video evidence. However, a report they released describes the video in detail.
As the bus was dropping students off from New Smyrna Beach High School, it says school bus aide Marilyn Onie slapped the student and threatened to break his fingers. Friday, Onie, who works for the Volusia County School District, was arrested by the Edgewater Police Department on a warrant for child abuse.
Earlier last month, a student told authorities that Onie abused a 14-year-old autistic student as the bus was dropping off a group of disabled students. Edgewater police later got video proof.
In a report, police described the bus surveillance video saying Onie was giving directions to the bus driver when the 14-year-old started biting himself. The report says Onie told him to stop it and grabbed his wrist.
Later, the boy then reached to touch Onie with his finger and that's when she grabbed him by the hand and finger and asked, "Do you like that?"
A little later, the report says three children got off the bus and the 14-year-old tried to touch one of them. That's when Onie reportedly grabbed the boy again by his wrists, bending them and she said, "Want me to break them on ya?"
The report says the boy was confused and later became agitated and kicked the seat in front of him; Onie slapped his legs and continued to be rough with him.
The boy was dropped off and authorities were notified a few days later.
Onie has since bonded out of jail. According to the police report, she said she is only human and was frustrated with the boy's behavior.
